Limpopo cricketers gear up for national tournaments

The Review Observer spoke to several players about their experiences throughout the year and their expectations for the upcoming tournaments.

POLOKWANE – Limpopo Impala Cricket recently held a prestigious capping ceremony to honor its talented cricketers selected to represent the province at various national tournaments this December.

The tournaments include the esteemed Khaya Majola Week in Cape Town, the U/19 Girls Tournament in Durban, the U/16 Boys Tournament in Pretoria, and the U/16 Girls Tournament in Johannesburg.

As the players proudly donned their provincial caps, they expressed their excitement and determination to make Limpopo proud. “We’re hoping for the best and will give it our all,” many shared.

The Review Observer spoke to several players about their experiences throughout the year and their expectations for the upcoming tournaments. Here’s what they had to say:

Mijanke Venter: Cricket has always been my passion and by the grace of God I have the opportunit to be part of an excellent team and great coaching. I’m proud to represent Limpopo and excited to lead the u/16 girls at the National tournament. To be honest this is our moment, we have trained hard, pushed through challenges and now it is time to shine and show people what we are made of.
Enock Marima: I had a difficult year trying to balance school and cricket as I was doing my matric but I know that I can be able to it. I’m looking forward to meeting new people and learning from them. I’m going to the tournament with a positive mindset and the hope of making my province proud.
Warona Mkwanazi: As the vice captain of the u/19 girls for Limpopo Impala Cricket team I’m looking forward to meeting new people and embracing different cultures and putting my leadership skills to use. Having fun with my team is also what I’m looking forward to in Durban. Coming back with the cup would be the highlight of this year.
Ruben Pohl: This year was tough because I got injured and stopped playing for a while but nonetheless I came back and I’m looking forward to the tournament. I’m looking forward to making friends and learning from them and hope to make Limpopo proud. This is actually my second time I’m going to participate in the tournament and I’m just so excited.
