Motocross 3rd round heads to city

The third round of the World of Motorsport South Africa (Womza) Gauteng Motocross Championships will take place at the Capricorn Racing Club on Saturday, where more than 160 bikers are expected to compete in the challenge.

POLOKWANE – The third round of the World of Motorsport South Africa (Womza) Gauteng Motocross Championships will take place at the Capricorn Racing Club on Saturday, where more than 160 bikers are expected to compete in the challenge.

Dean Rudiger, Polokwane motor sport organiser, says Polokwane bikers did well in the previous two rounds, which were held in Johannesburg, and he believes that they will continue in good form and eventually come en in first place at the end of the challenge.

He says fans can expect South Africa’s top bikers in action during these championships.

“This is an annual event and it is always supported by more than 2 000 avid motocross spectators,” says Rudiger.

He says local rider, Jason Jackman is a motocross veteran and is currently on top of the league in his category.

“Janneman Potgieter and Gerhard van der Merwe have been described as the heroes of 250MX. Tyron Thompson is a 125MX master, while Ryan Terreblanche and Ian Rudiger are the kings of 85CC.

“Cassim Hassim and William Hough are the best in 50CC and 50CC pro respectively,” he says.

The race will start at 10:00. Entry costs R20 for adults, R10 for secondary school learners and is free for younger children.

Refreshments will also be on sale during the race.
