POLOKWANE – The Limpopo Baobabs netball team had a tough time during their Netball Premier League (NPL) games in Pretoria on Saturday and Sunday, losing 81-28 and 59-34 to Southern Stings of Western Cape and Kingdom Stars of Kwazulu-Natal respectively.

Limpopo Baobabs is now number nine on the league log.

This was the second leg of the NPL.

The Baobabs will face the Diamonds of Northern Cape and the Sunbirds of Mpumalanga on Saturday and Sunday.

The NPL is Africa’s first semi-professional netball league and kicked off on May 10 at the University of Pretoria.

All matches are broadcast live on SuperSport on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the competition.

The final game of the tournament is expected to take place somewhere in June.

Cecilia Molekwane, Baobabs head coach says she is still confident that the team will be serious contenders for the NPL title. She says the team is doing its best.

According to Limpopo Netball chairperson, Jane Maake, the team needs to train hard to match the standard of other teams competing.

“The team showed a lot of improvement on Saturday against the Kingdom Stars and I think they are absorbing the heat of the league.

“I am also confident that we will play in the finals and contest the league title,” she said.
