Baroka FC to sign two youngsters

AFTER a promising debut season in the National First Division, which saw Baroka FC running short of five goals to participate in the promotional play-offs, the Ga-Mphahlele-based club embarked on a province-wide talent search.

The dream of playing professional football will become a reality for two lucky young soccer players.

Baroka FC head coach Sello “Skorokoro” Chokoe confirmed that the club wanted to sign two youngsters who were scouted during trials.

He said their names could not be divulged before the paper work was done.

“We are preparing for a tough season ahead, and our preparations included searching for players to boost the current squad.

“I needed a right winger and an attacking midfielder and I spotted those players at our trials,” said Chokoe, revealing that both players were from SAB League clubs in the Sekhukhune district.

Chokoe’s search for a right winger and an attacking midfielder fuelled rumours that right winger, Thabiso Kutumela and attacking midfielder, Gift Motupa might be on their way out of Baroka.

Absa Premiership, club, Platinum Stars, were rumoured to be the club to land Kutumela’s signature, while Mothupa has been linked with a big money move to Premier Soccer League champions, Mamelodi Sundowns.

Asked about the players who were likely to leave the Baroka camp, Chokoe was only prepared to say that two of the players might leave the club.

“The next two weeks will provide clarity on who will not be playing for Baroka when the season resumes in August.”

Chokoe often gives young players new opportunities with the club. He signed striker, Victor Letsoalo and Paul Mamabolo from SAB club Peace United FC last season.

Letsoalo became an instant hit, scoring crucial goals for Baroka.
