MOPANI FET’s women’s basketball team will fly the Limpopo flag in Bloemfontein during the College Sport South Africa (Cossa) tournament, following their 22-13 victory against Capricorn FET.

The Cossa tournament will take place in September, but venues and dates still have to be confirmed.

Mopani FET proceeded to the finals after winning several games at the Limpopo Cossa play-offs on Saturday. Percy Modutsi, Mopani’s head coach, said he was happy with the team’s achievement and he believed that the team would come home with a reward.

“I have a well balanced team and I don’t fear any other teams.

“The players are very committed and they have been working hard to win the provincial finals. I am glad we made our mark,” he said.

Rejoice Maimetja, assistant coach, said she was anxious before the final and found the games very challenging.

“It was a very tough game. Our opponents were attacking, but could not manage to score as many goals as we did.

“This victory means a lot to us. We will go back to the drawing board to prepare for the national Cossa games.”

According to Maimetja, the team consisted of talented players who were committed and hard working.

She added that she was delighted to be part of the team and her eyes were on the trophy now.
