Mopani farms sport a big success

THIRTEEN various sporting teams will represent the Greater Tzaneen in the annual Mopani Farms Sports Festival to be held at Hlanganani Centre in Letsitele on the first Sunday of August.

The festival is organised by the provincial department of sport, arts and culture in conjunction with the Mopani Sports Council and the South African Football Association.

Greater Tzaneen’s men’s soccer, women’s soccer and netball teams qualified for the festival during the local farms sports games last Sunday.

The Greater Tzaneen will be represented in men’s soccer category by Letaba Estate Packhouse and Mahela Junction.

Letaba Estate Packhouse, Naguede Farm, Laparise Farm, Du Roi Laboratory and Letaba Estate Zebras teams will represent Tzaneen in the women’s soccer.

In the netball category, Letaba Estates, Mahela Junction, Du Roi, Letaba Estate Packhouse, Laparise and Group 91 will represent the Greater Tzaneen in the festival.

Results of weekend fixtures:

First round of group A in men’s soccer:

• Naguede beat Mahela Junction 1-0.

• Letaba beat Laquac 1-0.

• Letaba Estate and Mahela Junction played to a 1-1 draw.

• Letaba Estate played a goalless draw against Naguede.

• Laquac and Naguede played a goalless draw.

• Mahela Junction beat Letaba Junction 1-0.

Second round of group A in men’s soccer:

• Letaba Packhouse beat Laparise 1-0.

• Group 91 beat Du Roi 2-0.

• Letaba Estate Packhouse beat Du Roi 4-0.

• Laparise beat Group 91 4-0.

• Letaba Packhouse won 3-0 over Group 91.

• Laparise beat Du Roi 1-0.

Women’s soccer;

• Du Roi won 2-0 over Letaba Estate Packhouse.

• Letaba Estate and Laparise played to a goalless draw.
