Runners summit Iron Crown Trail in race

The Iron Crown trail run took place in Haenertburg this weekend, with Phuti Mohale claiming the top spot on the podium.

POLOKWANE – The Iron Crown trail run took place in Haenertburg this weekend, with Phuti Mohale claiming the top spot on the podium.

Mohale, who competed in the 21km race, crossed the finish line first in a time of 01:41:00.

Veteran runner, Lazurus Seroka took second place overall and first place in the veteran men’s category, completing the 21km race in a time of 01:50:00.

Leon Roode achieved third place overall only seconds ahead of Thomas Thema, who claimed second place in the veteran men’s category.

In the 21km women’s category, Tumelo Matlou took first place. She was followed by Kathryn Molyneaux in second place and Sietske Van Tol in third place.

In the 10km race, Dineo Seroto was the overall winner in a time of 38:47, followed by Mogale Ramainya and Pelly Lamola in third place.

Nicolene de Jong took first place in the open women’s category.

She was joined by Fiona Butler and Anita Schutte on the podium who achieved second and third places respectively.

The race, presented by the Haenertsburg Rotary Club, is known as one of the most beautiful scenic trail runs in the province, and was deemed a great success, with more than 120 runners summiting the Iron Crown in the 21km race and an additional 120 runners completing the 10km race.
