POLOKWANE – The Polokwane leg of the Audi Quattro Cup was fiercely contended on Thursday last week with 54 teams invited to tee off in this prestigious golf tournament.

Beverly and Frans Weijters took the top spot on the leader board, winning an all expense paid trip to the national final of the Audi Quattro Cup.

Team Weijters was declared winners after a scoring 42 points; taking first place after a count in. They will compete in the national final at Arabella Golf Club from 1 to 3 October.

Aaron Segwapa and Peter Masehela took second place on 42 points on a count out and won a TaylorMade SLDR Mini Driver each.

Glen du Plessis and Deon Vermaak took third place on 41 points winning a R3 000 Tag Heuer voucher each.

Former Polokwane mayor, Freddy Greaver, and his partner Zipho Ngobeni took fourth place in the tournament.

The Audi Quattro Cup is played over 18 holes according to the Greensomes Stableford format.

Four players tee off together, with two players forming a team. The pairings select the best drive and then play alternate shots from there.

Last year Polokwane’s Audi Quattro Cup winners, Andrew Galloway and Duane Viljoen, won the world final in Los Angeles.

This year’s world final will take place in Dubai at Jumeirah Golf Estates in December.
