Cyclists ride to help needy in night time charity event
More than 50 cyclists gathered at Platinum Park on Friday night for the monthly Critical Mass night ride.
POLOKWANE – More than 50 cyclists gathered at Platinum Park on Friday night for the monthly Critical Mass night ride.
This time, the ride was for a special cause.
The cyclists contributed a dozen bread rolls each and Mrs Polokwane, Nadia du Preez, and her first princess, Nikita Oosthuizen, handed out soup and bread at Place of Hope in Voortrekker Street as part of this initiative.
The cyclists and Help In Every Burden (Hieb), a local charity, collaborated in this special event.
Oosthuizen’s home-made soup and the helping hands from Hieb ensured that the residents of Place of Hope and other needy people enjoyed a hearty meal.
Dina Pretorius, a member of the Hieb board of directors said: “thank you to each and every cyclist that made the effort to join us to feed Polokwane’s needy people. We hope to work together again soon.”
She added that Hieb supported the Critical Mass objectives.
Critical Mass takes place the last Friday of every month and is a social night ride through the city create awareness for cyclists on the road and for non-motorised transport.
