POLOKWANE – The Buffalo Recon tactical paintball team is making waves after claiming several podium spots in the Ultimate Milsim League.
Two teams from Buffalo Recon, consisting of three players each, are through to the final tournament, which will take place on September 27 at AWOL Paintball in Pretoria.
This after Buffalo Recon won first place, second place and two third places in the first four rounds of the tournament.
Team members are Wickus Prinsloo, JP Aucamp, Chris van Niekerk, Gerhard Grobler, Hanno Jacobs, Heinrich Kruger and Anja Erasmus.
The Buffalo Recon paintball team was founded by the former captain, Grobler five years ago, and the team has made a name for itself as one of the best tactical paintball teams in Polokwane and also in Gauteng.
“Buffalo Recon is the only team from Limpopo competing in the tournament against teams from Gauteng, Mpumalanga and North West,” says Prinsloo, the team captain.
“It takes a lot of commitment and an understanding wife to compete in professional paintball tournaments,” Prinsloo explains.
“We practise every second weekend at Predator Paintball in the city and have to travel to Pretoria to compete in tournaments,” Prinsloo explains.
“We focus on tactical training, how to clear a room and take out enemies, as well as fitness. JP is our tactical trainer and second in charge and used to be in the SA special forces,” says Prinsloo.
“We are competing for a R16 000 prize in September and hope to win the finals on the day.
“The prize money would help to cover travelling costs and to improve the team,” says Prinsloo.
