City team seeks top players

POLOKWANE – Crocodiles don’t cry. This is the slogan that the new soccer team, Dikwena Giant Aces FC lives by.
The team which, is based in Flora Park, was established by Khomotso Duba with the aim to keep young people out of trouble.
According to Duba, the team caters for young boys between the ages of 14 and 21 and will later invite women to form netball teams.
Duba says his father once owned the team, Pietersburg Pillars FC, but sold it due to financial difficulties.
“I have been running community teams for more than 20 years and I felt that it was time to form something of my own. I wish to affiliate the team with a professional local league such as the Castle League so the players can play organised football,” says Duba.
He adds that he is still looking for players to join the team.
However, he says only people around Polokwane are welcome as the team does not have a club house.
“Sport keeps people away from the streets and can also be used to relieve stress and minimise crime. I always encourage a healthy lifestyle and sport is also one of the things people can use to stay fit and healthy,” he says.
He says only hard working and determined players can join the team. “I don’t want to work with lazy people because I want the team to compete with other teams and match their standards.”
Anyone who is interested in joining the team can contact Duba at 073 403 3448.
