40-7 trouncing in top tournament

YOUNG Fighters Netball Club beat Maebana Netball Club in the final round of the fifth annual Tlou Segolela Festive Season Tournament in Mabokelele in Moletjie on December 31.

POLOKWANE – YOUNG Fighters Netball Club beat Maebana Netball Club in the final round of the fifth annual Tlou Segolela Festive Season Tournament (SEE PHOTOS) in Mabokelele in Moletjie on December 31.

The tournament started on December 24.

Young Fighters claimed the first prize after defeating Maebana 40-7 in the finals. They dominated the game from the first blow of the whistle.

Young Fighters used every opportunity they could get to score goals and that put Maebana under pressure.

Vixens netball club claimed third place after beating Sengatane 42-11, with Sengatane in fourth place.

Young fighters won R12 000, a trophy and medals.

The Tlou Segolela Festive Season Tournament is hosted by Tlou Segolela Sports Development annually. The tournament was established four years ago by Orlando Pirates FC player, Tlou “Gautrain” Segolela, with the aim to give back to his community and to introduce professional sport to rural areas.

Last year’s tournament was honoured by professional players such as Thabiso Semenya, Edgar Manaka and Hunadi Nkoana.

Mpho Moloto, tournament coordinator, said the tournament was well attended and all netball teams did their best.

He congratulated Young Fighters netball club for winning the 2014 Tlou Segolela festive tournament.
