Piet wins casino card game tourney

MOLETJIE – PIET Casino Club was crowned the winners of the Bahlaloga Casino Association’s top five casino card game tournament that was hosted at Ditlou Bar and Lounge in Moletjie, Ga-Matamanyane on Sunday.

The club celebrated their victory after they accumulated a winning number of 167 points. Matamanyane Casino Club took second place with 95 points and Mashashane Casino Club won third place 90 points.

This was the first casino tournament of the year in Limpopo and organisers said this year’s tournaments promised to be very exciting, as all clubs brought their best games to the table.

Edgar Mashitisho, executive members of the Bahlaloga Casino Association, said the association consisted of five teams and there were open slots available for other teams who wanted to join the association.

“Our tournaments will become larger and more competitive as more teams join our association,” he said.

He added that casino games were not only for men, but that they had several female members of the association.

Mashitisho said their first tournament was well received and thanked fans for their support. He called on the department of sport, arts and culture to join forces with casino card game associations in Limpopo in order to develop this sport.

Veronica Choshane, sport and recreation manager of the department, said the association should contact the Limpopo Sport Confederation and affiliate with the federation so that their sport could be recognised. She added that the federation would have to check the rules and regulations of the sport and register it. She urged all other sports associations to affiliate with the confederation.
