Fund raiser big hit

Eagar Aquatics Club hosted a fund raiser, The Big Swim, in November last year.

POLOKWANE -The swimmers, coaches and parents of the Eagar Aquatics Club came up with a plan to help swimmers who qualified for national swim galas to attend these events.

Eagar Aquatics Club hosted a fund raiser, The Big Swim, in November last year.

The money that they raised was earmarked to be used to help pay swimmers’ expenses when they attend competitions this year.

The club’s head coach, Douggie Eagar, organised the fund raiser.

Swimmers who took part in The Big Swim swam pool lengths for 90 minutes and were sponsored for each length they completed. The faster they swam the more lengths they were able to complete in the allocated time and the more money they were able to raise.

According to Eagar, Pakalo Nemamilwe, Ethan Anderson and Ivan Beukes raised the most money through sponsorships at The Big Swim.

Pakals raised the most funds and won a brand new swim bag as grand prize.

“I want to thank all the parents and swimmers for raising the money. They attracted all their sponsors on their own and I am very proud of them,” said Eagar.

He said Eagar Aquatics planned to host other fund raisers including a golf and open day, but the plans still had to be approved.
