POLOKWANE – The Limpopo women’s cricket team were in tears after they lost a game against North West cricket team by six wickets during the Cricket South Africa (CSA) competition, played at the Polokwane Cricket Club last Saturday.
Luck did not seem to be on Team Limpopo’s side as they lost all their games. Limpopo played against KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga and Eastern Cape.
The CSA competition formed part of the national CSA championship to take place in April in Bloemfontein. Sedibu Mohlaba, Limpopo women’s cricket team coach, said the team played well even though they could not win a single game.
“We will go back to the drawing board and rectify our mistakes. We are also planning to establish more cricket leagues so that players can have enough game time and prepare for big competitions,” Mohlaba said.
He added they had learnt much from the competition and would continue working hard to prepare for future tournaments. According to Mohlaba the team was well balanced and consisted of young talented players who were keen to represent the province.
“I foresee a brighter future in the sport of cricket for them all and I believe they will keep taking part in the sport and training hard to secure the opportunity to play for national teams,” he added.
• Team Limpopo had a friendly match against Northern Cape but the game was stopped due to rain.
