Swimmers to go to Winter SA’s
Swimmers from Eagar Aquatics gathered at the Polokwane Golf Club on Thursday evening to receive goodie bags prior to the South African Winter Championship.
POLOKWANE – Swimmers from Eagar Aquatics gathered at the Polokwane Golf Club on Thursday evening to receive goodie bags prior to the South African Winter Championship that will take place in Sasolburg from yesterday until Saturday.
Eagar Aquatics will be represented by 40 swimmers who achieved qualifying standards for the winter championships during the summer season.
According to Douggie Eagar, club coach, all the swimmers are ready to compete.
“We have been training very hard for this championships and I am certain that we will come home with a bag full of medals. Swimmers will be competing in all swimming styles,” he said.
He further said he believes that the weather will not work against them since they will be swimming outdoors. Eagar added that the club stands a very good chance to win the gold medals in the junior division since it is made up of future professional swimmers.
“The championships are not going to be a walk in the park but all the swimmers are ready to compete. I have been encouraging my swimmers to eat and sleep enough to have the strength to compete,” said Eagar.
When asked who is going to claim the first spot in the senior division, Eagar pointed out Laura Lennox in the female category and Ude Fuchs in the male category as swimmers who will leave their mark in Sasolburg.
He added that the club consists of best swimmers who will one day wear the South African colours. Eagar wished all the athletes best of luck and urged them to do their best.
