KSDA karatekas making their club proud
The karatekas of the Karate and Self Defence Academy (KSDA) showcased their skill at the Karate Interclub Competition that took place in Louis Trichardt recently.
POLOKWANE – The karatekas of the Karate and Self Defence Academy (KSDA) showcased their skill at the Karate Interclub Competition that took place in Louis Trichardt recently.
This was in preparation of the All Style Championship set to take place in August during which they will compete against clubs from Gauteng. In September they will also be competing in the International Shotokan Karate Federation National Championship in Durban.
The following karatekas from KSDA competed and achieved various kata (series of structured moves in attack and defense) and kumite (free fighting) medals:
• Klarissa Stelzer competed in the girls u/8 green and blue belt category level and obtained a silver medal in both kumite and kata.
• Monique Botha competed in the girls u/11 yellow and green belt category level and obtained a silver medal in kumite and a gold medal in kata.
• Ruan Booyens competed in the boys u/7 white and yellow belt category level and obtained a gold medal in both kumite and kata.
• Junior Brits competed in the male senior black belt category level and obtained a silver medal in kumite and a gold medal in kata.
• Danell Osborne competed in the female senior brown and black belt category level and obtained a gold and silver medal for kumite and a gold medal for kata.
• Justin Booyens competed in the male senior green and black belt category level and obtained a silver medal in both kumite and kata.
• Noko Mabutla competed in the female senior green and brown belt category level and obtained a gold medal in kumite and a silver medal in kata.
“We are extremely proud of them, they did really well,” said Martin Bochnig, KSDA head coach.
