Undefeated title for u/16 Bulls

The Limpopo Blue Bulls u/16 rugby team was unbeaten during the Coca-Cola Grand Khomo Week that was held at the Bridgton Sports Grounds in Oudtshoorn from July 6 to 9.

POLOKWANE – The Limpopo Blue Bulls u/16 rugby team was unbeaten during the Coca-Cola Grand Khomo Week that was held at the Bridgton Sports Grounds in Oudtshoorn from July 6 to 9.

On July 6, the Bulls beat Griquas CD 17-50 while on July 7 the Bulls proved to be on top of their game when they made Leopards eat dust after defeating them 38-19. No team in the Coca-Cola Grand Khomo Week could match the standard of the Limpopo Blue Bulls u/16 team. The Bulls’ winning streak remained unbroken as they won 30-17 against the SWD Eagles in the last game of the tournament that was played on July 9.

The Bulls were leading the game 20-3 at half time. The bulls managed to score four tries during the game. Jonathan Viljoen and Tumi Mononyane scored one conversion each. Viljoen and Karel Limbach scored one penalty each.

Heini Ferreira, Carl du Plessis, Noko Malatjie and TG Fourie scored one try each.

The Limpopo Blue Bulls u/16 team was led by Johan Minnie and Paul de Bruin on the sidelines while Tumi Mononyane led the team on the greens. Minnie said the team played exceptionally well and they are happy with the outcome.

“This was the first time Limpopo remains unbeaten in the Coca-Cola Grand Khomo Week and we are happy. All the players were committed and had the same objective which was winning all their games,” said Minnie.

He added that he is certain that Limpopo Blue Bulls left its mark and will be remembered.

De Bruin said he was happy with the players’ performance. “The new players made our team stronger. Our development is very good and we have a very well balanced team that will do all it can to make the province proud,” added De Bruin.
