Fencers don’t disappoint at rankings
Fencers competed in the 2015 Limpopo third rankings at the sport and recreational centre on Saturday.
POLOKWANE – Fencers competed in the 2015 Limpopo third rankings at the sport and recreational centre on Saturday.
Hosted by Raven Fencing Club, the tournament also included fencers from Eresable Fencing Club from Mokopane and Firebird Fencing Club from Polokwane.
Once again, only two weapons were used, namely the épée and foil.
The fencers competed in the scholar u/17 épée category, scholar u/17 foil, senior épée and the senior foil category.
The fencers fought for three minutes in a five-point pool fight and then went on to 15-point elimination rounds of nine minutes each.
After this, the final rounds took place.
“Well done to all fencers, there has been a vast improvement in the quality of fencing. The fencers’ skills are improving with every tournament,” said Mark Howitt, directoire technique of Limpopo Fencing Association.
“Thanks to the fencers. I enjoyed the weekend’s fencing and it is great to see fencers battle it out until the last point and great to see the involvement of parents and families.”
