Plk Business Chamber golf challenge

Attie Buitendag and Len Olley proved to be on top of their game by winning the Polokwane Chamber of Business Golf Challenge held at the Polokwane Golf Club last Friday.

POLOKWANE – Attie Buitendag and Len Olley proved to be on top of their game by winning the Polokwane Chamber of Business Golf Challenge held at the Polokwane Golf Club last Friday.

The annual challenge which was played in the betterball stableford format drew 56 golfers from around the province.

Buitendag and Olley claimed the first spot after accumulating 49 points. They were followed by David Hlabjago and Jonas Tshikundamalema in second place with 46 points on a count-in. Zach Chuenyane and Thomas Mnguni were third with 46 points on a count-out.

Francois Hartlief and Edwin Mackays managed fourth place with 46 points on a count-out. The fifth place went to Casper Gilfillan and Andre Valentyn with 44 points on a count-in.

Raoul van Zyl and Nelson Marais were in sixth spot with 44 points on a count-out. Van Zyl and Mash Makena were awarded for playing nearest to the pin at holes eight and 11 respectively.

Makena was also acknowledged for playing the longest drive on hole number two while Hendri Boshoff received a prize for playing the longest drive on hole number seven.

Simphiwe Mdlalose, president of the Polokwane Chamber of Business, said: “We had a great day and fantastic support from businesses, golfers and Polokwane citizens. We host the event once a year to raise money for the chamber since we do not get money from any other sources.”

Mdlalose thanked the sponsors and everyone who made the golf day possible.

• The Polokwane Chamber of Business will be hosting a gala dinner on 26 November as a fundraiser. The venue for the gala is still to be confirmed.
