Devaux van der Wath wins Specsaver day

The Specsaver Mall of the North Golf Challenge was played at the Polokwane Golf Club on Saturday.

POLOKWANE – Devaux van der Wath proved to be on top of his game during the Specsaver Mall of the North Golf Challenge played at the Polokwane Golf Club on Saturday.

Van der Wath claimed the first position of the challenge after accumulating 42 points.

He was followed by Callie Naude Sr in second place with 41 points while Weyden Peceur answered with 38 points on a count-in to occupy the third position.

Van der Wath and Naude Sr were also awarded for playing nearest to pin on holes 16 and four, respectively.

Charles Mara claimed the prize for playing nearest to pin eight while Mmemezi Dlamini scooped a prize for playing nearest to pin 11.

Naude Sr was the star of the day as he managed to get his hands on the jackpot lucky draw.

The draw which was made by Weyden Peceur at holes 10, 14, 15 and 17 saw Naude Sr claiming R300.

The draw was standing at R380 but only R300 was payable.

On Saturday, 3 October golfers will compete in the Mikes Chicken Monthly Medal Golf Challenge.

Golfers and rugby fanatics will be treated to a drinks special on the days the Springboks will play in the Rugby World Cup in England.
