Moletlane Texas shine at their own tournament
After emerging triumphant in all the club tournaments hosted on the Limpopo softball landscape, the question on everyone's lips is: who will stop Moletlane Texas in their tracks?
POLOKWANE – After emerging triumphant in all the club tournaments hosted on the Limpopo softball landscape over the festive season, the question on everyone’s lips is: who will stop Moletlane Texas in their tracks?
This question came after Texas won all their matches on home soil and at the Lebowakgomo diamond.
They recently won their own annual Moletlane Texas Softball Tournament and went on to conquer the Lebowakgomo Wild Beasts Heroes Softball Tournament.
The tournament at Lebowakgomo was staged in honour of the late Wild Beasts stalwarts, Polelo Masola, Tlankie Muroa, Koketso Matlala, and Brightly Sebopa, respectively chairman, secretary, shot-stopper and pitcher.
Texas started off the season with a belligerent style of batting and impenetrable fielding to help them win all their matches.
They opened the floodgates by walloping Sekhukhune-based Roots 10-2 and went on to register a 14-4 victory against the once-marauding Mahwelereng Spikes.
There was a modicum of revenge and no love lost when Texas was pitted against Vaal University of Technology, a team that almost crippled them by taking some of their senior players.
However, they managed to acquire a slender victory against their nemesis.
The vibrant band from the citrus estate of Zebediela drummed and trumpeted their way to sporting glory of domestic softball’s pyramid with a magnificent display of this classical brand of ballgame.
The band’s musical rhythms was probably one of the highlights, beating all the teams under the auspices of Limpopo Softball Association.
The awe inspiring team of Texas prospers under the tutelage of their head coach, Thapelo TC Seshoka.
Their matches were individual skill-driven cameos; rousing affairs full of drama and incidents concluded by a splendid finale in which they clobbered Seshego Raiders 11-1 in their final match.
Seshoka went into this battle heavily armed with their trusted lieutenants who are indispensable to both the defensive and offensive line-ups.
Warrior men like the Kekana cousins Tidima and Nthabi are sharp arrows in Seshoka’s quiver.
Tidima led the team from the pitcher’s mound with great aplomb with some top notch deliveries.
The continuing tournament wins are evidence of the teamwork and trust this team has in their team mates and abilities.
The accomplishments of Texas over the festive season could be the province’s blueprint for success when Limpopo Softball Association hosts the National Provincial Championship in March in Polokwane.
