It’s all systems go at Polokwane Golf Club for the new year
Charlie Smith, the Polokwane Golf Club manager, says everything is in place at the club with golfers already preparing for big tournaments such as the Baobab Golf tournament expected to take place on 3 March.
POLOKWANE – Charlie Smith, the Polokwane Golf Club manager, says everything is in place at the club with golfers already preparing for big tournaments such as the Baobab Golf tournament expected to take place on 3 March.
Smith says 2016 promises to be a good year and golfers are encouraged to come to the golf club in numbers in support of the tournaments. The membership fees will remain unchanged.
“All our previous sponsors are back on board and the competitions will take place on Wednesday and Saturday. We are still waiting for other sponsors to confirm and host their golf days at the Polokwane Golf Club. Corporate company golf days have also increased,” says Smith.
He says the glasshouse and the hall at the clubhouse will also be available to cater for various functions.
On 10 January, golfers gathered at the golf club for the Mike’s Chicken Monthly Medal Challenge and said they were ready to compete in this year’s golf tournaments.
Smith said Polokwane Golf Club employees are preparing the golf course but this will not disturb golfers.
“The pub lunch will also be available every Friday and it is open to the public. Parents can also bring their children along to come and play on the jumping castles with their peers,” says Smith.
He further urged golfers to stick to the golf club rules and make sure they have a sand bag with them every time they play to avoid damaging the greens.
