Calling all netball players in Limpopo

All netball players in the province are urged to participate in netball trials, which will be held at the netball courts adjacent to the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Friday

POLOKWANE – The selection procedure will coincide with the commencement of the provincial league whose games remain the foremost hatchery of talent and the chief feeder of the Baobabs.

Coach Cecilia Molokwane will have to choose the cream of the crop from the province’s five districts.

Some of the titans expected to feature largely during the selection include the previous line-up that included the likes of Kgothotso Mampuru, Vasta Ngobeni, Sylvia Lebelo, Shongile Hlongwane, Christina Mofomme, Nompumelelo Matekula, Grace Lechaba and Rosina Nkoana.

Molokwane’ squad is expected to feature the tallest player in the province and possibly in the country, the 2,1 m tall goal shooter, Ngobeni, who isexpected to live up to the coach’s expectation to improve on the team’ scoring rate.

Also anticipated in the team is Hilda Muilwa, a 1,65 m tall utility player who remains the vital cog around which the Limpopo netball machine rotates – performing the whole gamut of tricks at mid-court as a wing attack, wing defender and center.

Netball South Africa is yet to announce the exact date for the commencement of the league season. The venue for all the matches will still be played at the University of Pretoria and the will be played on weekends.
