7 Active JKA Club karatekas qualify for nationals

Seven karatekas from Active JKA Club are through to the JKA National Championships that take place in Johannesburg from 20 to 21 May.

POLOKWANE – These karatekas earned the opportunity after competing in the JKA Limpopo trails in the city recently. The club won 14 medals during the Limpopo trials. Kealeboga Talane, who won a bronze medal during the South African karate championships last year, is also part of the team that is going to compete at the nationals this year. Kealeboga was awarded the prize in the fighting category. Active JKA Club instructor, Sensei Eliphus Ntata, said he is happy with the way his club performed during the Limpopo trials and he was looking forward to the nationals.

He said the club only managed to send Kealeboga to the nationals last year but he hopes to send more karatekas this year.

Karatekas who won medals during the JKA Limpopo trials:

• Ngwato Nchabeleng – two silver medals for kata and kumite.

• Jolter Matsaung – two bronze medals for kata and kumite.

• Katlego Mokoma – two gold medals for kata and kumite.

• Molefi Talane – two gold medals for kata and kumite.

• Shaun Phillip – silver medal for kumite and gold medal for kata.

• Kamogelo Maphuta – two gold medals for kumite and kata.

• Kealeboga Talane – two gold medals for kumite and kata.
