Westenburg Easter Sports festival results

Winners in each sports code and competition received a medal and a trophy. See the list of winners here.

POLOKWANE – The Westenburg Rugby Club recently hosted the seventh annual Easter Sports Festival at the Westenburg Sports Grounds.

The three day festival, which was supported by Westenburg residents and residents from other communities in and around Polokwane, was sponsored by Nedbank.

The festivities started on Friday and the final games and prize giving was held on Sunday.

The games included sporting activities such as:  soccer matches ,netball, rugby and a strongest man challenge, pool games, potjiekos, dominoes, and a Last Man Standing challenge.

Winners in each sports code and competition received a medal and a trophy.

• Polokwane Royals Soccer Club, winners of the Easter Soccer Tournament, not only received medals and a trophy, but also R2 000 prize money and a brand new soccer kit.

• The runners up, Wonder Boys Soccer Team, received R1 000 prize money and medals.

• Themba Mavundla was the Man of the Match.

• Energetics Netball Team played the finals against Builders Warehouse and won 35-11.

• Sinkies Thompson, from Energetics, was the Woman of the Match.

• The Westenburg Rugby Team played against Moletjie Rugby Club and won 38-0.

Winners in the different competitions are:

• Strongest Man – Sanny Southon and Leon Erasmus.

• Pool – Ronny Mpepele.

• Dominoes – Melvin Stevens and Steven Snyman.

• Potjiekos – Marvin and Jo-Anne Horkins, Edwin and Joe Mackays, Verrel Potgieter and John Gallant from team Import/Export.

• Last Man Standing – Alvin Sanderson.

There were different age groups that participated in the 5 km fun run. The participants were divided into different age categories and in each category there was a male and female winner.

The winners are:

• Age group 0 – 12 years – Silverney Willemse and Landré Sinclair.

• Age group 13 – 18 years – Shivonia Maakie and Thapelo Mosemane.

• Age group 19 – 40 – Hendry Masenya and Hope Ledwaba.

• Age group 40 and older – Wilfred Willemse and Martha Chuene.

• Walking – Sandy Pitsi and Sadé Hartlief.
