Mall of the North Marathon: last chance to sign up
This weekend will mark the second Mall of the North Marathon, taking place on Saturday, 9 April. The marathon serves as Comrades qualifier.
POLOKWANE – There will be a total of four races throughout the day consisting of the 42,2 km marathon, the 21,1 km half-marathon, the 10 km run and the 5 km fun run.
Entries close at 20:00 on Friday (today).
Participants can sign up at the Mall of the North Kiosk, situated at the bottom of the staircase in front of Game. Entry forms are also available at at Mall of the North Total Sports and at Thornhill Sportmans Warehouse.
Please note that there will be no entries on the day of the race. Alternatively, you can SMS your e-mail address to 082 898 8341; an entry form and race flyer will then be sent to you.
Race fees run at R150 for the 42,2 km marathon, R100 for the 21,1 km marathon, R80 for the 10 km run and R40 for the 5 km fun run.
Those who wish to compete in the 10 km, 21,1 km or 42,2 km must get a temporary licence for R30.
The 42,2 km marathon will start at 06:00 on Saturday, the half-marathon at 06:15, the 10 km at 06:30 and the 5 km at 07:00.
There will also be award ceremonies for the different races. The first three runners to complete the race in each category will receive gold medals, the next 50 runners each recieve silver medals, and the finishers will reccieve bronze medals.
