Kenyan wins local Mayoral Road Race, local runner places fifth
Athletes from the province and as far away as Kenya gathered at the Peter Mokaba Sports Complex for the annual Polokwane Mayoral Road Race which took place on Saturday. See the race results here.
POLOKWANE – This race held by the Polokwane Municipality in collaboration with Polokwane Athletic Club promotes members of the community to embrace an active, healthy lifestyle and general wellness.
The Polokwane Mayoral Road Race is considered as a qualifying race for the Comrades Marathon. Participants took part in the 5 km fun run, 10 km, 21,1 km run while the top runners competed in the 42,2 km run.
The Polokwane Mayoral Road Race is also a premier seeding event for the major races in the country.
The race has gone from strength to strength since its launch in 2011. The race had found a place on the South African athletics calendar and is now part of the Limpopo Athletics Association (LIMA) and Athletics South Africa (ASA) activities.
