Du Plessis, Schutte top golfers on the greens

Andries du Plessis and Belinda Schutte were announced as the overall winners of the MGM Motors golf challenge that took place at the Polokwane Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday.

POLOKWANE – Du Plessis and Schutte claimed the first place spot after accumulating a combined 126 points over the two day period.

The first leg of the challenge saw Lennie Olley and Anthony Olley finishing first with 80 points, followed by Charles Mdluli and Tony Plaatjies in second position with 74 points.

Len Olley and Lennie Olley secured the third place position with 73 points.

Lennie was only awarded a prize for finishing first because, according to the golf club rules, a golfer can only win one prize even though they played in two different teams.

Lennie was the star on the first day as he was also awarded for playing nearest to the pin at hole nine. Theo Allison claimed a prize for playing nearest to the pin at hole 18.

The second leg of the challenge saw Edwin Mackays and Joe Mackays take first place with 69 points.

They were followed by Papu Lykanyiso and Mimezi Dlamini in second place with 62 points while Andries du Plessis and Belinda Schutte settled for third place with 61 points.

Joe Mackays and Papu Lykanyiso received prizes for playing the longest drive at hole one and 18 respectively.
