Limpopo PSL Corner: Polokwane sees red, Baroka and Leopards in action tonight

The Limpopo PSL Corner provides information, results and fixtures of the three Limpopo Absa Premiership teams.

LIMPOPO – Absa Premiership action returned on Tuesday evening, 26 November when Polokwane City made the trip to Soweto. They faced Orlando Pirates in a heated affair at the Orlando Stadium, with both sides desperate to get back to winning ways.

The visitors struck first through a header by Charlton Mashumba in the 12th minute. The Buccaneers levelled things in the 36th minute after a controversial penalty was given. Gabadinho Mhango stepped up and converted the spot kick. Pirates almost grabbed another goal in the 37th minute but Rise and Shine keeper, Cyril Chibwe kept the score at 1-1 after a strong left handed save.

Drama then followed when Thembinkosi Lorch dribbled with the ball and was brought down by Puleng Tlolane. The latter kicked the ball into Lorch after the challenge and this resulted in them “balancing each other’s head against one another,” according to a commentator.

They both were sent-off in the 40th minute but the action did not stop there.  Pirates’ Tshegofatso John Mabaso pounced on some sloppy defending at a corner in the 66th minute and went ahead 2-1. They then doubled their lead in the 77th minute through Kabelo Dlamini whose shot ended in the bottom-right corner. Rise and Shine looked down and out but they struck after two minutes of stoppage time via the boot of Mpho Mvelase.
