Leopards struggle in the DStv Premiership continues
Black Leopards' struggle in the DStv Premiership continue, with the side failing to take any points from the Limpopo-derby.
LIMPOPO – Leopards faced Baroka FC at the Peter Mokaba Sports Complex on Saturday.
Leopards started off well and came close to scoring in the 18th minute when Roderick Kabwe curled a free-kick into the box, however, Ovidy Karuru failed to get something on it and convert the chance.
Leopards had another opportunity to score in the 25th minute, but Rodney Ramagalela’s shot sailed over the crossbar.
Baroka had a bright start to the second half and on the hour mark, they got on the scoresheet via a Kenneth Nthatheni own goal.
Joslin Kamatuka doubled the lead for Baroka five minutes later, but Nthatheni redeemed himself and gave Leopards hope of at least salvaging a point after pulling a goal back in the last seven minutes. Baroka proved too strong and held on to win 2-1.
Leopards faced Golden Arrows yesterday, 23 February, with the result unknown by time going to press.
They will move their focus to their Nedbank Cup round of 16 tie against AmaZulu at the Thohoyandou Stadium on Sunday.
Captain Ramagalela called on his teammates to redeem themselves.
“We need to show character. We need to raise our heads and come back strong and win our remaining matches,” he said.
Fellow Limpopo team, Tshakhuma Tshamdzivhandila (TTM) will host Swallows at the Thohoyandou Stadium the day before.
TTM coach, Dylan Kerr said they are going to win and proceed to the next round. “I know that a match of this magnitude has tension and pressure, but I would like all that tension and pressure to stay with me and the technical team on the bench and let the players be responsible and give their best on the field. I am convinced that if we invest all the quality and talent that we have, we will get the kind of results that we are looking for,” he added.
