Karatekas clean up at Tskkia national tournament
The Tskkia Tokon Samurai Karate team received 66 trophies.
POLOKWANE – The Tskkia Tokon Samurai Karate team competed in the Tskkia national tournament on October 7-9 and the nine karatekas who participated received 66 trophies.
Sensei Fazlin Jardien says it was a great honour to have the team perform so well at the national competition. She also participated in the competition to show the karatekas that she was still capable of winning too.
“Sometimes we focus so much on teaching that we forget it comes with learning. To be a great teacher you also need to have the ability to learn.”
She says due to Covid-19, clubs had to individually decide which karatekas to send to nationals based on their ability in the club.
The trophies went to first, second or third place in archery, bo kata, katana (sword kata), kendo (sword fighting), creative kata, individual kata, kumite and grappling. The team came back with 18 gold trophies, 16 silver trophies, 16 bronze trophies and 16 exceptional performance trophies.

• Bonolo Chauke with one gold, two silver and three bronze trophies.

• Naeelah Jardien with two gold, one silver and two bronze trophies.
• Aqeel Jardien with three gold, two silver and two bronze trophies.
• Maheer Adama with one silver and five bronze trophies.
• Wafiq Adams with three gold, two silver and two bronze trophies.
• Nuraan Jardien with five gold and two silver trophies.
• Sheza Abbas with one bronze and two gold trophies.
• Fazlin Jardien with one gold and two silver trophies.
• Mation Kwangwara with one gold, three silvers and two bronze trophies.
