Karatekas set to pack a punch at Battle in the Bush championship

Legendary karate grandmaster Henri Eksteen will host the 17th Battle in the Bush Contact Karate Championship in Polokwane on December 4.

POLOKWANE – The tourney will see young and experienced karatekas from his dojo and Mpumalanga battle it out for top spots in kata and kumite.

Kumite is one of the three main sections of karate and it can be used to develop a particular technique or skill.

Kata is a staple of most traditional martial arts and it is practised by karatekas as an essential combat training tool. Eksteen said top performing karatekas will be bestowed with certificates of excellence.

“There will be certificates for those who finish the event in first, second and the third position. We look forward to an exciting event. We have invited parents and stakeholders to add more buzz on the day and we cannot wait to see the talented karatekas in action.”
