Women’s softball team prepare for national champs
The Limpopo women's softball team will attend a rigorous training camp in Polokwane on November 27 to prepare for the national softball championship in Gauteng on December 24.
POLOKWANE – The team came home with the bronze medal from the 2019 championship held in Pretoria and they are aiming for the top spot at this year’s event.
Limpopo Softball Association executive member Benny Boshomane said all systems are in place and the girls are geared for the championship.
“They are ready and excited. They had to endure 20 months without competing at any local or national events, so one can imagine their excitement. The mandate is clear; we want a gold medal at the event and the girls are capable of this.
“We have experienced players in the team who participated in international and national tournaments. We are fully behind the team as the coaches and we strongly believe they will make us proud.”
He added that 17 players from various women’s softball clubs in the province will be at the camp.
“They will play friendly matches against other teams from Polokwane as part of the preparations. They will be guided by the experienced players Thandi Malebana, Space Matsimela, Mozwazi Moshibudi, Katlego Aphane and Petunia Kgohloane.”
