UL ballroom couple wins gold in The Netherlands
Moholane and Hlungwani travelled along with another couple, the South African Latin dance champions for 2022, Adelaite Hlungwani and Happy Ramaan.
POLOKWANE – Ballroom dancer and medicine student Molemo Moholane from Polokwane, and his dance partner, Akani Hlungwani won gold at the World Dance Council and Amateur League Championships in The Netherlands last week.
After dancing and impressing the judges in the open word amateur Latin – solo championship round, Moholane won the competition among other talented male and female dancers from all over the world.
“This feels like a dream. I feel honoured to have competed with the best of the best and was able to represent my country in the way that I did. It was an amazing experience indeed,” he said.
Moholane and Hlungwani travelled along with another couple, the South African Latin dance champions and Dutch Open champions for the South African Dance Federation for 2022, Adelaite Hlungwani and Happy Ramaano who also competed. They ended fifth in the world over 30 championship round.
“I’m proud of how far Molemo and Akani have come. They’re making us proud and represented the country well,” Hlungwani said.
