Rising Star Gabriela makes waves on the dance floor

Whether it's hip hop, tap, or freestyle, Gabriela's passion for dancing shines through as soon as the music starts.

POLOKWANE – Rising Star Dance Studio dancers recently competed in Johannesburg and obtained great results.

At just nine years old, Gabriela Els is already making waves on the dance floor.

Whether it’s hip hop, tap, or freestyle, Gabriela’s passion for dancing shines through as soon as the music starts.

Despite only a few years of dance experience, her fluid movements make it look as though she was born dancing.

Her instructor, Maryka Botha, the owner of Rising Star Dance Studio, is proud to call Gabriela one of her students.

“She’s an absolute delight to teach,” Botha said.

Gabriela recently joined five other dancers from Rising Star Dance Studio to compete in the National SA Competition, held from 12-15 September at Emperors Palace.

The dancers had to achieve a score of 85% or higher to earn their national outfits, a mark Gabriela met with ease.

Her hard work paid off, as Gabriela won the overall trophy in tap dance with a score of 88.5%.

She also took third place in hip hop with 88%, scored 85.2% in freestyle, and earned 84% in the modern dance.
