Masutha joins Baroka FC as new head coach

Baroka FC appoints Joel Masutha as new head coach, aiming for promotion to Betway Premiership Division.

LIMPOPO – Baroka FC chairperson Kurish Mphahlele has officially announced the appointment of Joel Masutha as the club’s new head coach.

This decision follows weeks of speculation and is grounded in Masutha’s impressive record with the team. Known as ‘The Prophet’, Masutha joined Baroka last week as the team sits in 11th place in the Motsepe Foundation Championship League, with 11 points from 10 matches.

Masutha will be supported by Amukela Makhubela, who served as interim coach after the previous coach’s departure two months ago. Mphahlele confirmed a three-year contract for Masutha, expressing confidence that they have selected the right man for the job.

In an interview, Masutha highlighted the abundance of young talent at Baroka FC.

He said it was important to not play for entertainment, but that fans want a positive outcomes above all.

Asked about the team’s potential to escape relegation, Masutha clarified that his mandate extends beyond avoiding relegation: he aims to lead the team to promotion to the Betway Premiership Division by the end of the season.

He expressed optimism about achieving this goal, despite the current standings, based on a variety of factors he’s considering.
