Limpopo Impala Cricket wraps up season with award ceremony
Cricketers, coaches and families gathered to celebrate standout performances at the LIC awards held at the Polokwane Royal Hotel.
POLOKWANE – Limpopo Impala Cricket club hosted an awards ceremony at the Polokwane Royal Hotel on Saturday evening.
LIC board members, coaches, families and athletes came in numbers to celebrate the end of the season.

The event recognised and awarded cricketers for their hard work, performance and success shown throughout the year.
LIC board president, Sakkie Mabala Kwakwa welcomed guests and gave a short reflection on the challenges and highlights of the season.

“We are celebrating phenomenal talent among our schools and clubs. We are not only celebrating but honouring the spirits, dedication and hard work that everyone brings to the game,” he said.
He also thanked the coaches for their support and guidance, and tireless efforts behind the scenes. “You are the backbone of cricket in our community,” he said.

Board member Guido de Marre reflected on the past season. “It was a successful season this year, and can only imagine what great things the blue season will bring to this game of cricket. We are looking forward to the next one,” he said.
Awards were presented to players who had shown dedication, growth and consistency throughout the season.
Categories included u/19 Boys Super league winners being Hoërskool Pietersburg, fair play awarded to Eagles Cricket Club, Premier League winners awarded to Aces Cricket Club, CSA SA 6’s awarded to Don Radebe, and a certificate of appreciation to Polokwane Review and Observer.

A special guest on the evening, South African u/20 football head coach Xaniseka Raymond Mdaka who is known for working with young athletes, shared some motivational words with the players.

He encouraged them to stay passionate about the sport and have a strong team spirit.
“Parents and administrators, let’s help in whatever way we can help, to support our athletes,” he said.

As the evening concluded, guests had a good time and were treated to scrumptious meals and more celebrations.
