Nirvana Premier League delivers thrilling Sunday cricket

The Nirvana Premier League saw Akasia Capitals and Bombay Challengers triumph in high-scoring cricket clashes.

POLOKWANE – The Nirvana Premier League saw two games played at the Nirvana Cricket Field on Sunday.

The morning started with a match between Bangladesh Tigers XI and Akasia Capitals.

Bangladesh Tigers XI won the toss and opted to field first. The player of the match was Zainul Khadkiwala from Akasia Capitals.

Best batters:

• Khadkiwala made 82 runs off 36 balls and produced 10 fours and four sixes.

• Right behind him was Nhlamulo Martin Mboweni from the Bangladesh Tigers XI with 73 runs from 53 balls. He batted seven fours and two sixes.

• Mohammed Rutith, also from the Bangladesh Tigers X1, scored 46 runs from 36 balls. He hit three fours and one six.

Best bowlers:

• Asad Ullah from Akasia Capitals took three wickets in four overs.

• Next was Alpesh Patel, also from Akasia Capitals, with one wicket in four overs.

• Guido de Marre, from Bangladesh Tigers XI, was third with one wicket in two overs.

The final score was 222/6 for Akasia and 178/5 for Bangladesh Tigers XI.

Akasia Capitals won by 42 runs.

The afternoon game took place between the Bombay Challengers and Pocha Lions. Dayyan Gaaliem from the Bombay Challengers was selected as player of the match.

Best batters:

• Rivaldo Moonsamy from Pocha Lions scored 119 runs from 69 balls. He hit 14 fours and seven sixes.

• Sameer Patel from Bombay Challengers came in the second place with 61 runs from 39 balls, five fours and three sixes.

• Gaaliem made 47 runs from 35 balls, two fours and two sixes behind his name.

Best bowlers:

• Gaaliem took six wickets in four overs.

• Gently Motalane from the Pocha Lions took two wickets in four overs.

• Iftikhar Ali from the Pocha Lions also took two wickets in four overs.

The final score was 156/9 for the Bombay Challengers and 155/9 for the Pocha Lions.

Bombay Challengers won the match by one run.

Cricket fans can look forward to the Bombay Challengers vs Bangladesh Tigers on August 17 at 12:30.

The winner from this match will play against Akasia Capital in the final on August 24.
