Action at local wrestling club
Fighters from Inner Strength Academy delivered thrilling MMA, boxing and grappling bouts at the Inter-Dojo Club Championships in Mokopane.
MOKOPANE – Inner Strength Academy inter-dojo club champs brought plenty of action and adrenaline to the Brave Wrestling Club in Mokopane on Oktober 4. Spectators were treated to 13 exciting bouts in total, four mixed martial arts (MMA), one exhibition boxing, five Brazilian Jiu Jitsu grappling fights, including two women’s and three junior boys’ matches, and three kids exhibition grappling matches under the guidance of coaches Heinrich and Monique Maartens.
The fighters kept the crowd on their feet throughout the event.
The event started with a kids exhibition grappling where Grové Pieterse and Reinhardt Meijer showed their talent.
The next two matches were also kids grappling where they took on the juniors. Louw Pieterse defeated HP Oosthuizen with an arm triangle submission and Corinus Ackermann went up against Keagen Burness and won with an armbar submission.
In the junior grappling showdown, Divan Berry claimed victory over Jannie van Deventer via an armbar submission.
Tiaan Moll and Jayden Rheeder’s match ended in a draw and Louis van Deventer won his match by decision against Adriaan van Aarde.
The women grappling matches kept the crowd on the edge of the seats with Bianca Ruytenberg and Caitlin Zietsman giving an action-packed grappling.
The match also ended in a draw that earned them the title of women grappling fight of the day.
In another women grappling match, Annalize Steyn secured a win against Michelleen Cook via an arm triangle submission.
The crowd was thrilled by an exhibition boxing round in which Derick Kruger defeated Kruger de Beer via technical knockout.
The excitement continued as Chasan Massyn took on Willem Vermeulen in an MMA match, securing a win via technical knockout, followed by another MMA match where Dirk Snyman triumphed over CJ Schutte, also with a technical knockout.
In another MMA event, Richard Li defeated Kyle James Grice with a technical knockout. The main event saw Wickus van Straaten emerge victorious over Franco Vos in an intense MMA battle, clinching the win with a technical knockout.
Inner Strength Academy expressed their gratitude to the spectators and sponsors for their support in making the event a success.
