Wavhudi Gymnastics celebrates young Thohoyandou talent

Wavhudi Gymnastics Club ends the season with an awards ceremony, honouring young athletes and encouraging investment in youth sport.

LIMPOPO – Wavhudi Gymnastics Club wrapped up their season with a special awards ceremony to honour gymnasts who performed exceptionally throughout the year.

The event was held at the Robert Mphephu Fitness Centre in Thohoyandou at the end of November.

Team manager Angel Mulaudzi said the purpose of the event was to motivate young gymnasts.

“We want to encourage our athletes to work harder and dream bigger. Our goal is to develop gymnasts who can eventually compete internationally. We have so much raw talent here,” she said.

Guest speaker Nolufefe Sikhala spoke about the role of sport in empowering young people.

She said gymnastics is a powerful tool that can help fight unemployment and poverty by opening doors for youth development.

She encouraged the private sector to invest more in local sport, adding that it builds discipline, confidence and good health. Sikhala also applauded the club for recognising their gymnasts’ efforts by awarding them with trophies.
