Stanfordians big on angling
Stanford Lake College (SLC) learners participated in the SA Fly Fishing Championship in Kamberg, KwaZulu-Natal from August 22 to September 15, where 10 provincial teams plus an invitation team of two anglers participated in the competition.
POLOKWANE – Stanford Lake College (SLC) learners participated in the SA Fly Fishing Championship in Kamberg, KwaZulu-Natal from August 22 to September 15, where 10 provincial teams plus an invitation team of two anglers participated in the competition.
SLC learner, Tam Johnson achieved an overall 10th place in the competition, which was hosted by the KwaZulu-Natal Fly Fishing Association. SLC marketing manager, Rona McGaffin said the competition was run as closely as possible in the style and format of a world championship.
Anglers were transported in their groups to each competition sector by transport supplied by the organisers. Some great catches were recorded with the most fish caught by one angler over five sessions of 20. The largest fish of the tournament measured 59,1cm, with many sizeable fish recorded and a total of 284 caught.
