Tom Naudé takes 1st place at their sevens tourney

Tom Naudé Technical High School hosted a sevens rugby tournament at their sports fields on Saturday.

POLOKWANE – Tom Naudé Technical High School hosted a sevens rugby tournament at their sports fields on Saturday.

Seven schools, Tom Naudé, Merensky High School, Hoërskool Pietersburg (PHS), Hoërskool Ben Viljoen, Bankuna High School, Curro Northern Academy and Hudson High School participated in the tournament.

The action kicked off at 09:00 and 15 matches were played in total.

Tom Naudé advanced to the final of the tournament after a 24-5 win over PHS in the semi-finals.

Merensky also secured their spot in the final after beating Ben Viljoen 28-7.

Tommies managed to win a close game against Merensky in the cup final, where they won 14-12.

• Northern Academy vs Hudson (10-7).

• Merensky vs PHS (24-0).

• Tom Naudé vs Bankuna (25-0).

• PHS vs Northern Academy (19-5).

• Tom Naudé vs Ben Viljoen (14-7).

• Merensky vs Hudson (49-0).

• PHS vs Hudson (17-7).

• Northern Academy vs Merensky (7-7).

• Ben Viljoen vs Bankuna (38-0).

• Hudson vs Bankuna (35-0).

Semi finals:

• Tom Naudé vs PHS (24-5).

• Merensky vs Ben Viljoen (28-7).

Plate final (fifth and sixth place)

• Northern Academy vs Hudson (19-12).

Bowl final (third and fourth place)

• PHS vs Ben Viljoen (19-12).

Cup final (first and second place)

• Tom Naudé vs Merensky (14-12).
