POLOKWANE – Polokwane dancers enjoyed exciting dance workshops, directed by Willie Venter, last weekend.
The workshops were part of the Polokwane Goes Dancing event. Venter is a well-known South African dancer and choreographer. He won several awards for his work on films as well as stage plays.
Het started off his workshops with a session for pre-schoolers, gr. R and gr. 1 where he taught them how to move and count to the beat of the music. Gr. 2 and older followed and they learned more about the best technique for speeding up their dance moves. Finally it was time for the advanced class.
In this class the dancers improved their dancing technique and learned new moves. They were also challenged to try these new moves to a faster beat.
“It is exciting to have him in town, teaching us new moves. He is a legend in the dance world,” said Leorich Bannau, a dancer who attended one of the workshops.
