Radio station thanks business partners

THE deputy chairperson of the Univen Community Radio board, Asnath Nesengani, urged business owners and managers in the Vhembe region to invest and expand their businesses by advertising with their local community radio stations.
“We appreciate our local business partners who advertise their businesses with Univen Radio.
“You are like someone who ploughs seed into fertile soil.
“One day you will reap what you sowed,” said Nesengani.
He addressed guests on Friday evening at Univen Community Radio’s gala dinner at MMS Restaurant near Thohoyandou. Radio station officials met with various business owners and sponsors to promote the station.
During the event, the radio station offered some of their advertisers a token of their appreciation as way of encouraging a partnership with Univen Radio.
Univen Radio is a community radio station that was established in 1997.
The station is based on the University of Venda’s campus in Thohoyandou.
According to the director of communications and marketing of the University of Venda, Takalani Dzaga, Univen Radio is a media house that provides information, education and entertainment to communities in the Vhembe region.
“The station provides a platform for the community to address and understand issues of politics, agriculture, sports, gender, youth development women and children,” said Dzaga.
“We have good stories to tell. We have provided SABC radio and commercial radio stations in Limpopo with top class journalists, presenters and producers.
“We also initiated several community outreach programmes such as clothes donations to the needy and the Tshilaphala Drop-in Centre in Vuwani,” added Dzaga.
He said the station broadcast programmes that encouraged gr. 12 learners to apply for further studies and bursaries on time.
