Performance to help young people rise up

Polokwane Library Gardens Auditorium came alive with great performances of talented young people and an appreciative audience.

LAST Wednesday the Polokwane Library Gardens Auditorium came alive with great performances of talented young people and an appreciative audience.

Local non-profit organisation, Search My Talent, hosted a Performing Arts Against Youth Risky Behaviour event and it proved to be great fun for all involved.

According to Search My Talent CEO, Danny Mashita, the event’s aim was to discover new talent and to empower young people.

He said the event was made possible with sponsorships from the department of social development, Capricorn District Municipality and LoveLife Seshego.

“We realised that young people in Limpopo had many talented young people who never had the opportunity to show off their talents. Because their talents are not recognised, these young people turn to crime and substance abuse,” he explained.

“We wanted to use this event to promote these young people. We want them to earn an income through their various talents.”

Mashita said Search My Talent needed the support of local businesses to succeed.

“This was the first of many annual events. We also hope to go national soon,” he said.

Lebogang Teffu of LoveLife praised the efforts of Mashita and his colleagues.

“Young people need to develop their talents and unearth new potential to succeed. This event will give them the opportunity and boost their confidence.”
