The Polokwane Chamber of Business (PCOB) held their annual golf day at the Polokwane Golf Club last Friday.

With more than 100 golfers who competed in the betterball stableford competition, PCOB president, Simphiwe Mdlalose, said he was pleased with the number of entries for this year’s golf day.

“The number of golfers almost doubled from last year, so we are pleased with the turnout,” he said.

Andy Maritz and Brandon MacDonald won the tournament with 49 points on a count-in, followed by Baldwin Ramasobane and Joe Mackays in second place with 49 points on a count-out.

Third and fourth place went to Weyden and Nola Pecuer and Peter Masehela and Pule Southon respectively, both on 46 points.

The nearest to the pin competition was won by Peter Schullenburg on the fourth hole and by Richard Schullenburg on the 11th hole.

Edwin Mackays won both prizes in the longest drive competition that took place on the seventh and the 11th holes.

Polokwane mayor, Thembi Nkadimeng was the guest of honour at the prize-giving ceremony. “We applaud our business people for their contributions to the local economy and for the support they give to the less fortunate in our communities through charity,” Nkadimeng said.
