POLOKWANE – FAMOUS singer and television presenter, Nandi Mngoma, visited the city on Saturday as ambassador for Legit.
Mngoma popped in at the Legit store in Landdros Maré Street to inspire shoppers to carry on the brand’s rallying cry, Don’t Tell Me What To Wear.
Legit head buyer, Hazel Pillay, said the brand wanted to introduce a new edge to the brand, an ambassador that customers could identify with.
“The brand is all about keeping it real while we provide great fashion options for young, sexy and savvy South African women. We are proud to have Mngoma on the Legit team, because she epitomises this ideal,” Pillay said.
“She is a fashion icon who knows how to make a statement. We have no doubt that this partnership will leave a mark on South African fashion this summer.”
Mngoma specifically visited the Legit store in Polokwane to promote the Lalla range. “With a range that will make waves across the country, Mngoma makes it clear that she has a deep love of African tropical prints and chocolate tones, while her kimonos, matching sets and flirty florals reveal a sexy, feminine side. She will also introduce a new swimwear range, a first for Legit,” Pillay said.
“This is a true summer hotlist and it perfectly represents this stylish feminine personality and her versatile take on fashion. Watch out for standout items like the leather dress in brown, the longer length kimonos that can be worn over shorts and denim swimwear that will make beaches even hotter. Mngoma also offers a range of shoes, accessories and bags that continue this festive celebration of all things summery,” she said.
Pillay said internationally acclaimed South African designer, David Tlale, also continued his relationship with the brand.
“This time round, in addition to collaborating with Legit, he designed a range of bespoke headpieces as part of the campaign. These will be auctioned off in an online auction later. He also created all the outfits worn in Nandi’s new music video, which was produced by Legit.
“This collaboration is indicative of how Legit contributes to the popular culture conversation by assisting artists in building their own brands. It’s an incredible, visual, vibrant showcase of what the new range will offer, with every item on view available in stores,” she said.
