LIMPOPO – A HORDE of artists in Limpopo are scrambling for votes to win stature and prize money at the Film, Arts, Music & Entertainment (Fame) Awards on May 9.
Social media is abuzz with nominees pleading with their fans to vote for them in various categories. They include actors, performing artists, deejays and comedians, who will compete at the prestige award event to be held at the University of Limpopo.
The awards, hosted by Limpopo Media, announced 104 nominees at Sun Meropa recently, and also named comedian Mashabela Galane, Thobela FM’s Lethabo “LeJoy” Mathatho and Muvhango’s Lesley Musina who would be part of the event.
Fame organiser, Matodzi Makananisa, said the voting has started in earnest. Expressing his excitement, Makananisa, said the award’s SMS service was receiving an average of 3 000 votes a day. “This has been an amazing journey, we were really not expecting this but votes are coming in in large numbers. Most of the votes recorded happen between 21:00 and 02:00.”
Makananisa thanked the people of Limpopo for supporting this initiative and urged them to continue voting for their favourite nominees.
The voting lines for the Fame awards will close at 12:00 on May 9.
