LIMPOPO – TEBALELO Mmako (27) from Mpanama village, who is well-known as “Showcase” by hip-hop music lovers is back with his new album, Journey, and is making waves in hip hop circles.

Showcase holds a diploma in financial management from Ekurhuleni West College and currently works at SM Media as an internal auditor and bookkeeper.

The album contains 15 hot new tracks which include Journey, Ngwana wa Lla, Mama Waka, Mosadi waka Okae, To Live featuring Jay Tee and Lerato la Mmino featuring Steve Kekana.

“I became an artist in 2003. I get my inspiration from the legendary writer, William Shakespeare – I am a poet, a songwriter and a producer.

“My album was released under my own stable, Mmakotainment. It has become my most popular album and it gives me, a Sepedi rapper, the chance to show the world that Bopedi’s got talent.

“I received a South African Traditional Music Achievement Award nomination last year in the song of the year category and this has given my work international recognition in most African states such as Malawi, Mozambique, Lesotho and Botswana,” says Showcase.

He says songs on the album, Journey touch on social issues.

He was inspired by the work of South Africa singer, Steve Kekana, whom features on his album.

“Steve Kekana is the most amazing blind artist on our shores, he is famous nationwide. It took me a year to compose the whole project and I was honored to work with him, Molly (Supermanomnyama), Masana Records, DJ Vuthela, Pula the King, Jay Tee and Norah Jones of Malawi,” he says.
